Project Mire in a nutshell<\/h1>\n

In 2017 in Geneva, the Fonds cantonal d’art contemporain (Cantonal Fund for Contemporary Art), a division of the Cantonal Office for Culture and Sport (Department of Social Cohesion), together with the Office for Urban Planning (Homeland Department) and Centre d’art contemporain Geneva, developed a public art project for the railway stations of the L\u00e9man Express line. The Fonds cantonal d’art contemporain was willing to showcase audio-visual works by contemporary artists. Project Mire<\/em>* was born.<\/p>\n

Mire pursues the following objectives:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • Setting artistic interventions within urban development.<\/li>\n
  • Installing art works in stations to accompany public transport.<\/li>\n
  • Connecting the wider public with contemporary art.<\/li>\n
  • Provide enriching and appreciated added value to the travelling experience.<\/li>\n
  • Programming regular renewal of art made by established and emerging artists.<\/li>\n
  • Showcasing works from the local heritage belonging to the Funds for Contemporary Art of the Canton and the City of Geneva.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    * Mire<\/em> has several meanings: a goal, a target, a focal point, a device for aiming at or measuring distances, a control process for optical instruments or quality setting for image broadcasting. All meanings of Mire refer to the action of viewing and watching.<\/p>\n
